Mau (UP): With the riot-torn town
limping back to normal, the district administration is
planning to reopen all schools from Monday, offical sources
said today.
No untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the
district during the past couple of days and a high-level
meeting is expected to take a decision on opening all schools
from Monday, the sources here said.
Curfew was being relaxed for eight hours from 0900 to 1700
hours in all the localities falling in the three police
station areas where communal clashes had erupted over Dussehra
festivities last month, they said.
During curfew relaxation period and particularly during Eid
celebration yesterday, there was no report of any untoward
incident, they said adding security personnel however
continued to maintain a strict vigil.
Meanwhile, a five-member BJP fact finding team led by
former minister Surya Pratap Shahi today visited parts of the
town and met the locals in connection with the riots.
Curfew was imposed after 12 people were killed and over 40
injured in communal clashes.
